I think Jade is a great actress and singer. I don’t know why people are so resistant to someone like her. We should be embracing someone with this type of talent and not shun away because she is contemporary. I’m going to speak for a lot of the younger crowd when I say Hmong people are dying for an artist like Jade. We need someone fresh and innovative. Vocally I don’t hear anyone that can sing like her, with her edge and style. Also, yes, her Hmong may not be as “Fobby” as most will like but so what!! She is Hmong American. Most Hmong American’s speak with the Western Hmong accent anyways. I actually like the way she speaks Hmong. It allows someone like me, who was born in the States to understand and relate better to. To be honest, I shun away from movies when the actors speak hmong like Fobs. I think Jade’s Hmong is fine, I’m sure her Hmong is better than most. She obviously has to be able to read and write Hmong to be able to read the scripts. Honestly, I don’t think Hmong people deserve and artist like Jade. I hope she breaks into the mainstream either with her acting and singing and leaves the Hmong people behind. Just do what Brenda Song did, at least people outside of the Hmong community will recognize talent when they see it. Let me get it clear, I’m not saying this to all Hmong people. I’m sure Jade has a lot of supporters, like myself. I’m just tired of reading comments of people hating on her so much and I really don’t understand it. I know she is above and beyond a much better singer and actress than anyone you can name inside of the Hmong Community at the moment. sigh…makes me sad. When someone comes up, the Hmong people have to bring them down. I feel that Hmong people will forever be fobby! Anyways, I hope Jade keeps it up despite the resistance and haters. She is our best chance for anyone in the Hmong community to break into the mainstream. I predict, when she does, all the haters will crawl back and support. We will know though…who the real fans are! Keep it up Jade, you are a role model and a great talent.

I think she act decently. A lot of people shit talk her “Hmong speaking” ability or lack of. And I say they have all the right to, especially when she is putting herself out in the Hmong world. If her and her families/ friends don’t want ppl to talk shit then maybe she should not do anymore Hmong movies. I think she has a good voice, but not when she is trying to hit the high notes. She should stick to low notes.

Hands down the most powerful, contemporary hmong actress we have in the community. She is paving the way for many Hmong American girls. I credit her as being part of the modernization for our Hmong film industry in America. I give credit where credit is due. Think about it, she starred in two of the biggest Hmong American movies. “Tou and Mai” and “Daim Duab”. These movies were made by directors that actually had formal training in film. So she is definitely 5 star in my book. She was cast by directors that actually knew what they were looking for. They recognize talent. Not like these older hmong directors that just cast whoever is cheapest or sluttiest, you get the picture. It’s always difficult to be the first person to take the first step. Brenda Song doesn’t count…she’s in Hollywood, so don’t even bring her up.

Also, she auditioned against many other girls for both roles. That should speak for itself.
