An Afternoon Chat with Director Seng Yang

This article contributed to Hmong Enews from www.HmongEmpire.com. By Houa Lor. When I first saw Seng Yang’s trailer for “The Rose Cloth,” immediately, my mind was racing. I knew that it would be a great film to watch. The thing that caught my attention was the title, Buy viagra online The Rose Cloth,” it was very different and made it hard for me not to finish the clip. When I watched the trailer, it was just fantastic and it got me all pumped up for the movie. Levitra 10 mg precio So I just had to had catch some time with Director Seng Yang to talk about his film, himself, and the story behind his film.

Houa: First of all, let me say it’s an honor to be able to do this interview.

I saw your work and the first thing that came to my mind was that I had to do an interview with you because not only did your film Foro levitra catch me at the first opening scene, but you are a very talented director.

I’m so excited to see your film. Your trailer, by far, is one of the most well done in our Hmong community yet. Buy Kamagra Online Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to do this and thank you for your time. Where did the inspiration for this film come from Buy Trimox onlines?

Seng Yang: the inspiration of this film comes from the feeling of loneliness. the main character Nraug Xiong aka.

X (played by Steve Moua), seems to be a perfect guy who has it all; success, wealth, looks but underneath it he deals a lot with loneliness. we all have moments when

we just want that special someone to be real and by our side.

obsessive? maybe, but in a good way.

this obsessive love is what drives this story.

H: How long did it take for the script to come into play?

S: it took about 3 yrs.

of collaborative ideas.

i probably had 4-5 different versions of this story. i had to make a final decision on how i wanted this story to be told so we started writing nov. of last year then finished it in jan. then jumped right into shooting for our promo and now it’s out there! kinda sounds like we rushed things but really it was 3 yrs in the making.

H: ·How was casting? How did you end up choosing the actors you did to play

the roles of the characters you created?

S: the casting was simple, Gideon X., Steve M. and Nancy V. all played in my short called Tuj Choj Tshav Ntuj Nrig in ’09 (postpone for higher budget). Gideon has an iconic stage presence.

he can be a strong figure or a goofy jokester. Steve relatively new to acting but is a stage performer so that really helps.

also a very handsome guy and taller than the avg hmong man. Nancy is gorgeous, tall and uniquely different because she actually looks normal as a blond and often mistaken as other than hmong. she’s incredibly intelligent

and quick to adapt.

they all work well with each other and great as a team.

H: What part of production was the most challenging/rewarding?

S: the most challenging and still is, is the budget. it’s difficult to have to resort to other than what you had originally envisioned or settle for less than what you wanted. but what i find most rewarding is that the hmong community really has taken notice of us and really have high expectations of this film. we hope to not let anyone down.

H: I really like the scene where he is drawing a picture of the girl. That scene seems to be a newer development in the Hmong film industry. Where did that idea come from?

S: ha.. we have had lots of criticism about that scene. many have said that it was borrowed from james cameron, titanic? it’s funny, when i first heard that notion it never occurred to me as to why or how the connection was made? because when i wrote it i was thinking we need to push our limits and show more skin.

also, the crystal necklace is an important symbol in the story so for the trailer we need to show it. never would i thought ‘titanic’!?

H: A man who creates a perfect woman in his mind… most people will relate a lot to this.

What’s your idea of a perfect woman?

S: she would have to be strong willed, self driven and intelligent. a partner to run side by side with not as competition but motivation. not high maintenance, but can appreciate quality when sees it.

H: You’ve served our country, big hats off to you!

Aside from directing and writing, what else do you like to do?

S: thank you! for a long time i worked 9-5 turning wrenches. it st arted out

as a hobby until i went to school for it. then landed a job and progressed… until i realized that i don’t want to retire as a mechanic. yes, it came easy and it is a trade in demand but my passion is in film.

H: “The Rose Cloth” is such an interesting title. How did you come up with it?

S: we really wanted this to strictly be a hmong labeled film so we really didn’t have a name for it other than Paj Ntaub. a paj ntaub is a hand woven cloth that tells a story. in this story, each paj ntaub represents a universe within the multiverse. so when X dreams of this fantasy girl, it’s actually a glimpse of their past, present and future lives together.

of course paj ntaub translated word for word is “flower cloth”, but calling it that just wasn’t pleasant to my ear. Levitra Without Prescription Levitra tablets to create some distinction and better describe this film as a romantic chic flick we translate it “the rose cloth

H: Ok, we know you’re a director, what’s something interesting about yourself that we should know?

S: I’m a risk taker…ha! i’d like to think of myself as a multi-talented, trickster of all trades. i know how conceded that may sound but the marines really did a number on me, cause they’ve convinced me think i’m invincible.

H: Where do you see yourself in the future?

S: i want to be apart of this fresh new movement that’s happening in the hmong entertainment industry. 5-10 yrs from now i still want to be making films but bigger and better!

Buy Ampicillin just about everyone i know can relate to HK actions, bollywood musicals, thai movies and esp korean drama.

they turn their heads in every direction but frown upon hmong videos. i hope to one day be part of the positive reestablishment of hmong films.
